Snow Fence Cowl. Lumetõke.

I've been recently working with different types of yarns to try them out. I made a project in a "blown" yarn, where the fibres are blown in a tube. It makes the yarn so light and warm, very nice to work with. I can't show the project yet though.
Next, I wanted to try a chain-type yarn. I picked three colours of Drops Sky, which is super soft, light and luxurious due to the tube-like chainette structure. I designed a fun mosaic pattern for a cowl. This pattern has quite a long floats on the wrong side, need to take care and leave them loose enough to keep the work from puckering. The cowl is worked as a tube, so all the floats are hidden inside and wouldn't disturb you at all. Mosaic knitting is a good beginners colorwork project as just one of the colours is worked per round. Make a perfect "unisex" winter accessory in no time at all!

The Snow Fence cowl or scarf is a double-layered, warm and cozy winter accessory, protecting you against Arctic winds and snowstorms. You can work a cowl, moebius cowl or a scarf following this pattern. All the versions are knitted in rounds in mosaic stockinette stitch, creating a long tube. Three colours of yarn were used, swapping one out after each repeat. However, the cowl or scarf can be made using just two colours.

Muster on kootud mosaiik-koes, seega korraga on töös ainult üks värv. Mustri nimeks on Snow Fence, vabas tõlkes Lumetõke. Sel aastal peaks vist hoopis ümber nimetama Tuule- või Tormitõkkeks?

Flashback Friday Sale.

It's Flashback Friday! Today I'm looking back at previous years releases in July.

The Arrows & Apples Shawl pattern was released in July 2017. It is designed to be symmetrical, with Apples in the centre of the shawl and Arrows racing towards the Apples from each side. The pattern can be easily adjusted in width and length and in yarn weight too. My first sample was made in fingering weight linen, long and narrow, more a scarf than a shawl. The final version was made in fine lace yarn I purchased in Australia. It took a lot of attempts to get the pattern right. I wanted it to be symmetrical, worked in one piece, without crafting. Figured it out finally!

The Sokikesed sock pattern was released in July 2018. It features simple lace combined with reverse stockinette stitch on toes, heels and gussets, so the smooth stockinette fabric is caressing your sensitive skin. This one pattern contains different options on how to work the lace. Can you spot the difference in lace pattern on white and red socks? One pattern, several options! A simple scalloped edge adds interest, like a strawberry on a cake, and allows the edge to be stretchy. My favourite summer socks!

I offer a whopping 50% off discount on one or both of these patterns in my Ravelry store. Use coupon code FBFJuly at checkout. This offer can not be combined with any other offers. End date July 9 midnight, UK time zone.

Perfect summer knits!
Enjoy!

Catch Two Cats Too Sock Pattern. Kassisokimuster!

Can you see my recent love is mosaic knitting? Mosaic knitting is fun and easy way of knitting with two colours to create a colourwork pattern which looks much more complicated than it is. The beauty of mosaic knitting is that it only uses one of the yarns at a time, while the other waits at the beginning of the round.
The kitty chart was such a fun to work with. I started out with a general image and kept adding little details. At first, I had a washcloth pattern in my mind but it kept evolving and wanted to become something else. At some point, I got the idea of intertwined cat tails. The result of days work, wondering and pondering is here, the sock pattern with one kitty sitting at the front of the leg, the other one at the back with their tails intertwined in the heart on the outside.
There are several nifty details in the pattern. Two options are given for the heel, short row heel or short row reinforced heel for hard-wearing socks. I know that socks with short row heel might be tight around ankles so I added a small gusset there. Another option is to work just your favourite heel. Socks are worked from the cuff down with rounded toe for an easy finish, no need for Kitchener Stitch.

Love the pattern?

Thank you for supporting my work by purchasing my patterns!

Tähelepanelik lugeja on kindlasti märganud mu armastust mosaiik mustrite loomise vastu.

Õpetuses on veelgi nutikaid nippe kasutatud. Sokikanna kudumiseks on antud kaks juhendit, lühikeste ridadega kand või lühikeste ridadega, tugevdatud kand. Lisatud on väike kannakiil, kuna sellise kannaga sokk jääb vahel pahkluust kitsaks. Loomulikult võib hoopis kududa oma lemmik-kanna!

Muster meeldib?

Suur tänu, et toetad mu tööd soetades mu mustreid!
Momendil on see muster saadaval ainult inglise keeles.

New pattern: Let's Twist Again! Uus muster!

Last December I designed the Let's Twist Again mitts pattern. I loved these tiny cables/twisted stitches so much, couldn't get them out of my head. The pattern looks great on socks too, isn't it?
Summer is on its way and maybe you don't knit socks anymore but I do, all year round! Let's Twist Again socks pattern was released last week. Both patterns are available in my Ravelry store. Want both? There is an offer available for you: buy one get another for half price.
I'm working on a new sock pattern at the moment. Should I release it in June or wait till September? Can't decide... Before that, I made a pair of mitts. The pattern is on the tech editors table. I might publish it in my blog. Would you like to knit along? We might start next week.

Kes veel suvel sokke koob? Mina koon aastaringselt! Detsembris avaldatud vikeldatud sõrmitute muster sai nüüd ka sokkidele. Tore reljeefne muster, kas pole? Sokid on kootud alustades varbast, kannakiiluga ja tugevdatud kannaga. Veidi jämedamast lõngast, sport weight, vardad 2,75 mm.
Mõlemad mustrid saadaval Ravelrys.
Momendil on varrastel järgmised sokid. Ühed sõrmitud said paberile, plaan on need avaldada blogis osade kaupa. Kas soovid kududa koos? Alustame järgmisel nädalal?

Which Gusset, Which Heel? Milline kannakiil, milline kand?

Decisions! At first I knit the gusset in stockinette stitch.

The gauge is different for stockinette and mosaic pattern, that's why I tried to work the gusset in garter stitch and then in mosaic pattern, as the sole is. Which option is the best?
What color to choose for the heel flap?

Esialgu kudusin kannakiilu parempidises koes. See pole parim variant, jääb veidi lokkima, sest parempidise koe ja mosaiikmustri kudumise tihedus on erinev. Ripskoeline kiil on veidi parem. Kolmas võimalus on kududa kannakiil sama mustriga, kui tallal.
Milline variant on parim?

Mmm...Mosaic Socks Test Knit.

As you know, I designed a mosaic sock pattern for a Mystery Knit-a-Long in an Estonian knitting forum. The pattern is translated into English and tech edited, time to run a test knit. I've made slight changes in the English version. I got some ideas and advice from mystery knitters.
Would you like to test knit these socks for me?
The test is open in my Ravelry group.
Welcome to join in!
See you there!

Socken Auf Zehenspitzen durch die Gänseblümchen.

Good news to my German friends! The Tiptoe Through the Daisies pattern is now available in German language, translated by Nicole,  Baccara in Ravelry. She kindly agreed to provide pattern support in German too.
If you need a translation from English to German or German to English, please contact Nicole through her website The Bold Ewe. Despite I don't speak German myself, I can highly recommend her, always there for you and quick to respond. How do I know the translation was good? I asked for a second opinion, just because I happened to be Nicole's first client and we both were happy to get someone's approvement. I will definitely use her services again.

The pattern is available in Ravelry and  LoveKnitting.

Hope you enjoy!

The Sokikesed Pattern Update. Sokikeste muster täiendatud.

Do you remember the Sokikesed socks I made last summer? I wasn't entirely happy with the charts.  So I decided to create new charts, a separate chart for each size. There are four sizes given with four options on how to work the lace pattern on the top of the foot. Can you spot the difference in stripy and white sock patterns? One is small and textured, another more open and lacy.
The pattern is updated in Ravelry now.
Summer is just around the corner, time to knit summery socks again!

* * *

Kudusin need Sokikesed ja kirjutasin mustri möödunud suvel. Tundus, et skeemid võiksid paremad olla. Mõni kuduja oli väheke segaduses, kuidas skeemi lugeda. Nüüd võtsin kätte ja tegin uued skeemid, iga suuruse jaoks oma skeem, kokku neli suurust. Mustrivariante, mille vahel valida, on ka neli. Tähelepanelik vaatleja märkab erinevust. Triibulise soki muster on kompaktsem, valge soki muster avatum.
Suvi pole enam kaugel, aeg suvesokke kududa!

The Flowerbed Stole has been a popular pattern for some years now. Every now and then people ask me about a different shape of a shawl using the same stitch pattern. Here it is, the crescent! The Flowerbed Crescent combines a delicate lace border with the modern shape of a crescent shawl cascading from your shoulders like a small capelet. Dress yourself up for an occasion or wear as a cover on sunny days. A little lace shawl can be surprisingly cosy even on chilly days!
Several discount offers are available, check the pattern page in Ravelry to find the offer which is the best value for you. Create your own Flowerbed by the time the Spring begins!

Weekend Freebie! Sel nädalavahetusel tasuta!

I just got back from a short break in Spain. The weather was nice and sunny but the wind was chilly some days, so I needed a shawl to keep me warm. Back in dull and rainy England, I realized how much I miss the sun and warmth. I read about snow, ice and well below zero temperatures in my homeland Estonia and other Nordic countries. I know how short the days are there and how little daylight can be seen. I can't send you sunshine but I can brighten up your day by gifting you a pattern! Let The Blue Surf Shawl remind you the summer is on its way.
Follow Arella Seaton Design on Instagram and/or Facebook and find the coupon code for the free pattern. Offer ends on Sunday, 10 Feb 2019, midnight.
Don't forget to add the pattern to your favourites in Ravelry, knit and share your project!
Thank you!

Jõudsin just tagasi lühikeselt puhkuselt Hispaanias.

The Tulips KAL in Progress. Tulbisokkide kooskudumine kogub hoogu.

The Tulips KAL is going strong in Ravelry. Several knitters have completed the cuffs already. I got so inspired by looking at all colourful tulips popping up and couldn't resist, had to cast on another pair!
I chose all different colours for my tulips. Have you seen photos of tulips fields in Holland? That's where my inspiration came from. There is still plenty of time to join the KAL. Hop over to Ravelry group to see all beautiful tulips and join in.

Tulbisokkide kooskudumine kogub hoogu. Paljudel kudujatel on sokisääred valmis.

💮Flowerbed Crescent💮!
The Flowerbed Crescent combines a delicate lace border with the modern shape of a crescent shawl cascading from your shoulders like a small capelet. Dress yourself up for an occasion or wear as a cover on sunny days. A little lace shawl can be surprisingly cozy even on chilly days!
The Flowerbed Crescent features a distinctive lace pattern with flowers and flower buds all over. The Crescent is worked bottom up in one piece. The pattern contains nupps, double nupps and gathered stitches well known in Estonian lace knitting.

I'm looking for couple of ➡️➡️test knitters ⬅️⬅️working from written instructions. If you are interested please hop over to my Ravelry group and join in!

I have a New Pattern for You, Thanks to the GAL! Uus muster, tänu GAL'ile.

Let's Twist Again Mitts

I feel a bit guilty I did not post about The Indie Design Gift-a-Long GAL back in November when the event was kicked off. Did you participate? I had big changes going on in personal life and I didn't find my writing mojo back then. The event will end tomorrow midnight. Hopefully, it all starts again next November!

If you never heard of the GAL you better head over to Ravelry and find out. Basically, it's a big knit/crochet party where knitters and indie designers get together to celebrate, chat, play games and work together. It was my third year to participate as a knitter and designer. I knitted several projects and even won some prizes in games.

Besides all the fun and knitting there was another, quite unexpected, outcome for me too. I made the Twisted Fall hat, fell in love with the stitch pattern, had some yarn left over from the hat and decided to design matching fingerless mitts. Yes, I asked the designer, does she have any plans to design mitts. No, she does not. I actually own a book containing the stitch pattern, so it's not like I used hers.

As you can see below my initial version of the mitts was slightly different from the final.
I am really happy how the mitts turned out and knitters seem to like them too.

If you would like to knit a pair of fingerless mitts, please get the pattern now. By the way, the pattern is  25% off (no coupon code required) until midnight, Wednesday, January 2 (UK time zone).

Twisted Fall Hat

Muster on 25% odavam kuni 2. jaanuari keskööni.

Pointless Shawl.

I sat down to write the story of the Pointless Shawl and realised, I don't remember where I got the idea! I knitted the shawl a year ago and it took just two weeks to complete. Some ideas just work out well. Asymmetrical triangular shawls has been popular for some years and still are. I wanted to try out the construction and add some own tweaks to it. So I added the lace border to start with. Main body of the shawl was meant to be black, but got boring to knit, I added white stripes to it. When the shawl was big enough I decided to add mosaic border and bring decreases to the edge. What I didn't think of, the change of  decrease placement cut off the point of the shawl! I was a bit disappointed at first, wanted to rip it back and re-knit. I posted a photo on Instagram and asked for opinions. The best advice was to call it a design feature and name the shawl pointless!
Nearly a year later I finally wrote the pattern, got it tech edited and test knitted to ensure everything works well. And here it is! If you like it, get your copy from here.

Selle salli lugu algas umbes aasta tagasi. Asümmeetrilised kolmnurksed sallid on juba mitmeid aastaid populaarsed olnud. Värvid valisin jaki järgi, must ja valge. Valged triibud said lisatud, kui musta põhiosa kudumine igavaks läks.

Kureparved Mitts pattern.

The Kureparved Mitts feature a distinctive small triangular lace motifs, arranged in the shape of flocks of migrating cranes in early spring or autumn. That is the perfect time for wearing fingerless mitts, having a walk in a park and spotting the birds. The title Kureparved is Estonian and means flocks of cranes. Every spring thousands of cranes migrate to Estonia for nesting. Such wonderful majestic birds!
Two slightly modified versions of the lace pattern are given with separate charts for the right and the left hand; pick the version you like most.

Introductory offer 25% off (no coupon code required) on the Kureparved Mitts pattern until midnight, Sunday, 3 June (UK time zone). No coupon code needed. The pattern is available in my Ravelry store , in English and in Estonian. If you wish to translate it (or any other of my patterns) to some other language, please contact me!

See muster sai disainitud Mustrimaailmas toimunud VIP salakudumiseks.
