Vurr Socks in Progress. Sokid edenevad.

I have finished one sock except the heel. At first I thought I make short-row heels. When I started the heel I realised it will interrupt how the gradient colours flow on the sock. I opted for the Peasant Heel , it will be knitted on later.  I used Lori's Twisted Bind-Off. to finish the sock.
Now I have to examine the gradient skein and figure out how I get matching socks. I know it's ok when they do not match but I like mine to be as similar as possible.

*            *            *

Üks sokk on peaaegu valmis, ainult kand on jäänud teha.

Come Knit With Me - Vurr Socks. Koome koos - Vurr!

Would you like to knit a pair of socks with me? This subtle pattern works up quickly and is easily memorable. I called the pattern Vurr because it goes fast and the motif reminds me of a spinning top
which is "vurr" in Estonian. See how far I got last night watching knitting podcasts? I think it's a unisex pattern, suitable for everyone.

It is a slip-stitch  mosaic pattern. You work one round in one colour, next round in the other colour, slipping the stitches  marked with "V" in the chart. No need to carry both yarns at the same time. Easy-peasy! I knit my socks toe-up with a short-row heel. I make the soles in the same pattern. You can use the chart and knit socks in your preferred method. The chart has 8 stitch repeat, so you have to cast on 56, 64, 72, 80 sts. The stitch pattern looks the same worked toe up or cuff down.

Post your progress in Instagram or Facebook with hashtags #VurrSocks  #ArellaSeatonDesign @ArellaSeatonDesign I would love to see your socks!

Let's knit! Vurr-vurr! Quick-quick!

         *            *            *

Mustrimaalima foorumis on jaanuar-veebruar mosaiik-koes sokkide kudumise kuu!

Koo kaasa! Vurr-vurr!

Through the Daisies. Jalgupidi karikakrais.

When I first published the Through the Daisies sock pattern, it had a different cuff pattern, inspired by flower petals. The sock pattern has been loved since, just the cuff wasn't everyones taste. Someone commented, it looked like screwdrivers! Several people changed the cuff. I decided to add another option, a new cuff chart. I used Drops Nord Pearl-grey and Drops Fabel Sunset yarn. I love how a self-striping sock yarn creates striking colourwork easily.
Currently, just the Through the Daisies Cuff Down has the new chart.
I will updated the toe-up version (Tiptoe Through the Daisies) later in the year.
I'm celebrating re-release with discounted price for you!
Enjoy!

Automatic re-release discount $1 off will be added at check-out,
valid until the end of May.

Mäletate veel seda sokimustrit? Muster nägi ilmavalgust kaks ja pool aastat tagasi. Siis oli teistsugune muster sokisäärel. Paljud muutsid sääremustrit oma maitsekohaseks. Egas see just ilusaim muster polnud, kuid tol hetkel oli see minu valik.
Through the Daisies (cuff down) täiendatud variant on saadaval soodushinnaga kuni maikuu lõpuni!

New Pattern, New Test Knitting. Uus muster, uus testkudumine.

The third pattern from the Sock Doodles series is released on Ravelry and going to be available on LoveCrafts shortly. For this Hearty Steps socks, I used less than 50 grams of self-striping sock yarn, Drops Fabel in Sunset colourway, and some solid leftover yarns. The heart pattern was created by slipping the stitches when working two rows in one colour, two rows in another colour. No need to carry both yarns same time! Easy-peasy!

Kolmas muster mosaiik sokimustrite peres on Hearty Steps. Seekord kasutasin isetriibutavat sokilõnga Drops Fabel koos ühevärviliste lõngajääkidega. Kaks rida on kootud ühe lõngaga, kaks teisega, samal ajal moodustub südamemuster kudumata üle tõstetud silmustest. Nii lihtne see ongi, pole mingit kahe lõngaga korraga mässamist!

Next up is a new test knitting, the intarsia blanket/afghan. I've shown it before as a MKAL project. This time I opened the test knitting in English. If you are interested in testing the pattern, please join in HERE.

The Elly’s afghan/blanket was inspired by abstract geometric art. I find geometric abstraction very eyecatching and as a knitter, very knittable. After examing several paintings, I started to experiment with shapes and figuring out the movement of the lines, before I came up with my design.

Also, the pattern can be used for making a wall hanging instead of a blanket. Why not use finer yarn and different fibre, like cotton or acrylic for smaller wall decoration?

Working in intarsia is fairly easy for an advanced beginner who is comfortable with the basic knit and purl stitches. You just have to be careful and organized working from 7-9 skeins simulatneously.

MKAL progress & New Release. Salakudumised edenevad & Uus muster.

The Mystery Knit-a-long on Mustrimaailm forum is going strong. Sunray was the fastest, she has finished already. She made some modifications in the pattern and used more colours. Look at this great result! It's a work of art! I'm still working on the English pattern.

Mustrimaailma salakudumine edeneb hoogsalt, kui just aiatööd vahele ei trügi. Sunray oli kiireim, tal juba tekk, koos väikeste muudatustega, valmis. Vaata ja imetle kunstiteost!

I've been so busy organizing test knits, Mystery KAL's and pattern releases.
The latest pattern release was Loojangulinnud shawl. It's a mosaic pattern, knit in bias. I love the birds motifs in mosaic. It's the third design with birds, all of them different. I'm quite sure there is going to be more birds, so versatile, graphic motif.

See on juba kolmas disain, kus kasutan mosaiik-koes linnumotiivi. Arvan, et see ei jää viimaseks.

Just noticed I haven't mentioned here about the second MKAL, mosaic socks. Silver Rhombi sock pattern is currently tested in Ravelry in English. The Estonian version is used for another MKAL on Mustrimaailm forum. Have a look at some samples from the MKAL:

Mustrimaailmas on käimas ka teine salakudumine, millest olen unustanud rääkida. Seekord on kudumisel mosaiik-koes sokid, Hõberombid. Siin on mõned pooleli ja valmis tööd:

The Silver Rhombi pattern is going to be released in the end of May or at the beginning of June. Before that the Hearty Steps sock pattern will be released. Here are all four pairs of socks from the Sock Doodles E-book. Two patterns are released, two more to come. All patterns are/will be available as individual downloads on Ravelry and LoveCrafts. The best value is to get the Ebook, available on Ravelry.

Neli mosaiik-koes sokipaari mustrit on koondatud E-raamatusse Sock Doodles, saadaval Ravelrys. Ühekaupa on mustrid saadaval ka LoveCrafts lehel. Praeguseks on avaldatud kaks mustrit, ülejäänud kaks tulevad lähema kuu jooksul.

Sock Doodles - Released, Testing, Next Up.

Doodles
Despite I finished knitting all four samples of the Sock Doodles I still have plenty of work to do.
The first two patterns from the Sock Doodles Ebook are released, the Doodles and the Scribbles.
Why it's called doodles? Because I've been doodling with mosaic knit patterns, slip-stitches and leftover yarns.

Scribbles
The third pattern, Hearty Steps, is in test knitting in my Ravelry group.
The fourth pattern is still a secret. I started a mystery knit-a-long in the Mustrimaailm forum and reveal the pattern step by step.
Hearty Steps

Sock Doodles.

I've been doodling with leftover sock yarns and combining mosaic patterns. It  is an easy and fun way to create colourful, one-of-a-kind socks. Use just two colours or four or even six, work more or less mosaic pattern repeats, all is up to you! This is the first pair from the upcoming Ebook, Sock Doodles. The Doodles pattern is available on Ravelry, an introductory discount of 30% off (coupon code: knitsafe) until midnight, Tuesday, March 31 (UK time). Or get the Sock Doodles Ebook, containing four mosaic knit sock patterns, for $7. One pattern is released, three more to come.
The price will go up by $1 with each new pattern added. Offers can not be combined with any other offer. VAT will be added if applicable.
However, there is an option to get this pattern for free! There is going to be the coupon code in my next newsletter for the free pattern. Join my newsletter mailing list now. The newsletter will go out on Saturday, 28 March at 12 am UK timezone.

Mu armastus mosaiik-koe vastu pole enam mingi uudis. Just täna lõpetasin neljanda sokipaari kudumise. Fotodel on esimene paar seeriast Sock Doodles ehk Soki-kritseldused.

What's On My Needles? Mis on varrastel?

The year 2020 is flying by and I haven't even looked back at 2019 or shared all new designs I have released. I try to do better!
I finished a mosaic knit shawl some weeks ago. The pattern is ready for test knitting very soon, hopefully, next week. The best way to get to know about new tests is to sign up as a test knitter in my Ravelry group, I send an earburn to testers first. If I still need more testers, I announce tests on Instagram and Newsletter.  Below is the first sneak peek to the new shawl. It's not blocked yet. Hope you get an idea. It's mosaic, fingering weight, colourful, knit in bias.

I had some yarn left over from the shawl and it will become a series of mosaic knit sock patterns. The idea is to mix different motifs and colours, it's like doodling with yarn! It's going to be a fun way to use up leftover yarn.
I've finished one pair already, and started another, on the photo below. I wasn't happy with this and ripped all back. New version is much better!
That's a brief overview of my current knits.
What's on your needles?

See on kootud sokilõngast, mitmevärviline, diagonaalis. Rohkem infot tuleb õige varsti, kui testkudumise välja kuulutan. Parim viis uute testidega kursis olekuks on liituda Ravelry's mu testkudujate nimekirjaga.
Päris lõbus on! Näiteks see sokipoolik ülaloleval fotol läks harutamisele. Uus algus on palju parem.
Selline on lühike ülevaade käsilolevatest kudumitest.
Mis on Sinu varrastel?

New Patterns and Offers. Uued mustrid ja pakkumised.

Open a Gate Mitts
Cables look cozy and warm, truly something to use for items worn in cold weather. When Knotions magazine was looking for designs for the Cable Issue, I submitted a cabled fingerless mitts design. It was summer when I knitted my sample and took photos in a heat weave, wearing mitts. The design was approved and finally the issue is live now. Look at all these fun designs here, mitts, socks, shawl, hats! There is a KAL going on in Knotions Ravelry group, and giveaway too! Please find more information here and join in!
Open a Gate Mitts pattern is available on Ravelry.

Out of the Gate Socks
When I finished the mitts, I was in love with these cables and decided to knit matching socks too. Out of the Gate socks pattern can be found in my Ravelry store.

There are some amazing discounts available too!

First of all, there is a combo discount! Get one of the patterns, mitts or socks, and find the 50% off discount code for the other pattern in the end of purchased pattern pdf. Hurry though – the discount is only for the first week – through Sunday November 3, 2019.

And there is another option to get a great deal! Buy three patterns from my Ravelry store and get automatically 25% off. Remember, there is 50% off of the mitts pattern discount code in the end of the Out of the Gate sock pattern pdf.

Knit faster!

Minu arvates on palmikud väga sobilikud talviste kudumite jaoks, lisavad kohevust, on soojad ja õdusad. Disainisin palmikutega sõrmitute kinnaste mustri Knotions veebiajakirja jaoks. Kudusin ja pildistasin neid keset suvist soojalainet. Palmik on üsna tavaline, kuid mõned pahempidised read lisavad omapära. Nüüd on mõlemad mustrid Ravelrys saadaval.
Kui ostad ühe neist mustritest, kas Open a Gate mitts või Out of the Gate socks, leiad mustrifail lõpust 50%-se allahindluse koodi teise mustri ostmiseks.
Teine võimalus on veelgi soodsam!
Nobedaid vardaid!

Knitting for Charity. Kudumid heategevuseks.

I am a member of an Estonian craft forum Mustrimaailm. Every year we knit woollen socks and mitts for charity. One care home is chosen as the recipient of the year. Winters can be cold in Estonia, up to minus 30 C! Real wool is the best in the wintertime. I try to participate as much as I can. It's a good opportunity for me to knit again some of my designs or send out some samples made in my designing process.
This year I sent out two pairs of socks and mitts. The patterns used were Bay of Biscay Mitts, Tulips in the Desert Socks, Bouquet Fingerless Mitts and Kuusevõrsed Socks.
Hope they will be loved!

Mustrimaailm koob jälle sokke heategevuseks. Sel aastal saavad sokid jalga ja käed sooja Hellenurme hooldekodu elanikud. Minu panuseks on seekord kaks paari sokke ja sõrmituid. See on hea võimalus kududa jälle mõnd oma mustrit või saata näidiseid, mida olen kudunud disainimise käigus. Mustrid on ehk nii mõnelegi tuttavad, sõrmitud Biskaia Laht, Tulbisokid, Lillekimbu sõrmitud and Kuusevõrsed Sokid.
Loodan, et need hoiavad mõned käed-jalad soojas!

What's On My Needles? Mis on varrastel?

Are you curious what's on my needles? After finishing the Bay of Biscay mitts pattern I decided to work with mosaic patterns again. I've shared several free charts here earlier, a Duck, a Boat, Butterflies, maybe something else, can't remember at the moment. I was about to release a Kitty chart but got distracted by an idea to develop it to a sock pattern. The socks turned out cute. Have a look at the photo below, it's an initial sample. Since then I've knit another pair, written the pattern, got it tech edited and now my trusty test knitters are busy testing different sizes of the socks. I still need to get some photos taken before I can release the pattern. So pity I don't have any cats around for a photoshoot.

The next idea was to make mitts with kitty pattern. I've made a sample but it needs tweaking. I've put it on hold until I get suitable yarn for another sample.

Summer is here and I would love to have a new cotton top, haven't made any for myself recently. I was browsing patterns in Ravelry and decided to knit the Butterfly Heart top instead of designing my own pattern. It meant to be an easy knit. Turned out it's not an easy pattern at all! Need to follow 3-4 charts and written instructions with a lot of "At the same time..." going on. I'm on holiday, no printer here, have to follow everything on the screen. As you can see I manage somehow, it's growing!

Butterfly Heart Top in progress

Millega olen tegelenud, mida kudunud? Vardad on ikka töös, kuigi toodangu hulgaga kiidelda ei saa. Peale Biskaia Lahe sõrmituid kindaid oli soov jälle mosaiiki kududa. Olen sel aastal loonud hulga mosaiik mustrite skeeme. Esimene sokipaar on alloleval fotol. Korrigeerisin skeemi, lisasin suurusi, kirjutasin mustri juhendi. Nüüdseks on juhend korrektori käest läbi käinud ja testkudujad töötavad hoolega. Loodan mustri avaldamisküpseks saada lähipäevadel. Kas oleksid huvitatud mu mustreid inglise keelest eesti keelde tõlkima?

Kudumiseni!

New pattern: Let's Twist Again! Uus muster!

Last December I designed the Let's Twist Again mitts pattern. I loved these tiny cables/twisted stitches so much, couldn't get them out of my head. The pattern looks great on socks too, isn't it?
Summer is on its way and maybe you don't knit socks anymore but I do, all year round! Let's Twist Again socks pattern was released last week. Both patterns are available in my Ravelry store. Want both? There is an offer available for you: buy one get another for half price.
I'm working on a new sock pattern at the moment. Should I release it in June or wait till September? Can't decide... Before that, I made a pair of mitts. The pattern is on the tech editors table. I might publish it in my blog. Would you like to knit along? We might start next week.

Kes veel suvel sokke koob? Mina koon aastaringselt! Detsembris avaldatud vikeldatud sõrmitute muster sai nüüd ka sokkidele. Tore reljeefne muster, kas pole? Sokid on kootud alustades varbast, kannakiiluga ja tugevdatud kannaga. Veidi jämedamast lõngast, sport weight, vardad 2,75 mm.
Mõlemad mustrid saadaval Ravelrys.
Momendil on varrastel järgmised sokid. Ühed sõrmitud said paberile, plaan on need avaldada blogis osade kaupa. Kas soovid kududa koos? Alustame järgmisel nädalal?

What's On My Needles? Mis on varrastel?

Bouquet Fingerless Mitts

I've been knitting small items over the last couple of weeks. They are so quick to make, posting about them takes a lot more effort!
Bouquet mitts for charity are done. Next, I finished a pair of socks, wrote the pattern and getting it ready for publishing. I finished knitting socks when travelling. I can't sit without knitting but didn't have the next project ready, so I had to improvise with leftover yarn and a simple stitch pattern and another pair of mitts were born! I liked that simple design but it needed some refinements. That's what I'm working on right now, just haven't got any progress photos. I was thinking of releasing a pattern for the mitts on the last photo for free in my blog. What do you think? Is it a good idea?

Let's Twist Again Socks

Viimaste nädalate jooksul olen kudunud hulga väiksemaid esemeid. Nende kudumine võtab vähem aega, kui neist postitamine!
Lillekimbu-mustriga sõrmitud Mustrimaailma heategevuseks on valmis.
Plaan on muster avaldada blogis tasuta. Mis te arvate sellest? Kas oleks huvi kududa?

What's On My Needles? Mis on varrastel?

My recent posts have been about mosaic knitting. I love how easy it is to knit, love to play with colors and create charts. Mosaic socks are finished and blocked, the pattern needs some final touches, test knit is going well. It's time to get ready for the pattern release.

Meantime I decided to use up the leftover yarn from socks and knit a pair of my Bouquet Fingerless Mitts for charity. When I started to work with Katia Seta Tweed yarn I wasn't sure I like it, it's rustic, not very smooth and no elasticity due to silk content. After washing the socks I love the yarn much more, now it's smoother and so soft!

On the third photo are all the mosaic blocks I've knit so far. Aren't they cute all together? There are two slightly different Butterfly patterns. I'll post the charts soon and write about how I experimented knitting them.

What is your favourite project out of three? What you would like to know more about these projects?

Millest tahaksid rohkem teada?

Which Gusset, Which Heel? Milline kannakiil, milline kand?

Decisions! At first I knit the gusset in stockinette stitch.

The gauge is different for stockinette and mosaic pattern, that's why I tried to work the gusset in garter stitch and then in mosaic pattern, as the sole is. Which option is the best?
What color to choose for the heel flap?

Esialgu kudusin kannakiilu parempidises koes. See pole parim variant, jääb veidi lokkima, sest parempidise koe ja mosaiikmustri kudumise tihedus on erinev. Ripskoeline kiil on veidi parem. Kolmas võimalus on kududa kannakiil sama mustriga, kui tallal.
Milline variant on parim?

Mmm...Mosaic Socks Test Knit.

As you know, I designed a mosaic sock pattern for a Mystery Knit-a-Long in an Estonian knitting forum. The pattern is translated into English and tech edited, time to run a test knit. I've made slight changes in the English version. I got some ideas and advice from mystery knitters.
Would you like to test knit these socks for me?
The test is open in my Ravelry group.
Welcome to join in!
See you there!

Socken Auf Zehenspitzen durch die Gänseblümchen.

Good news to my German friends! The Tiptoe Through the Daisies pattern is now available in German language, translated by Nicole,  Baccara in Ravelry. She kindly agreed to provide pattern support in German too.
If you need a translation from English to German or German to English, please contact Nicole through her website The Bold Ewe. Despite I don't speak German myself, I can highly recommend her, always there for you and quick to respond. How do I know the translation was good? I asked for a second opinion, just because I happened to be Nicole's first client and we both were happy to get someone's approvement. I will definitely use her services again.

The pattern is available in Ravelry and  LoveKnitting.

Hope you enjoy!
