Knitted Soft Book. Kootud pehme raamat.

As you might know, I've been self-publishing knitting patterns for years. I have several patterns published in E-magazines also, which is great! Yesterday I had my first pattern published in a printed magazine, Your Crochet and Knitting, issue 18. It's an amazing feeling, open the magazine and find my pattern among others. The magazine is full of interesting patterns! I love that cushion with a bird on the front cover and tiny garden birds. The magazine comes with a yarn pack, knitting needles and crochet hook included, so one could cast on straight away. I think is a great idea, especially on times like we have now with the lockdown. 

The pattern I proposed and was accepted for publishing is a soft baby-book. It contains eight colourwork charts, the letters A, B, C, D and pictures of an Apple, Boat, Cat and Duck. The squares are worked in mosaic knitting technique, directions given in the magazine. Ever so often I hear, oh, mosaic, never tried it, sounds too complicated. Afraid not, it is actually very easy, suitable for beginners. If you know a knit stitch and slip stitch, that's all you need! 

I have been designing mosaic motifs for over a year. I've used them for the White Star blanket, cushions, washcloths, coasters. Still, I didn't have a good idea for kids items. I started to think, what do I use them for? Washcloth? Baby blanket? I asked for ideas in a Facebook group. One of the suggestions was a soft book. And here it is! Enjoy!

Ma olen kudumismustreid kirja pannud ja avaldanud juba õige mitu aastat. Mitmed mustrid on ka E-ajakirjades ilmunud. Eile oli tähtis päev, sest avaldati esimene minu muster trükitud ajakirjas. Imeline tunne on avada ajakiri, ning leida oma töö teiste vahvate mustrite seas. 

Alustasin mosaiik-koes motiivide disainimisega üle aasta tagasi. See on lõbus tegevus! Paljusid motiive olen kasutanud tassialuste, pesulappide ja teki ning patjade jaoks. Hulga lastepäraseid motiive on jäänud siiani kasutamata. Üks idee oli neist beebitekk kokku panna, kuid otsisin veel uusi võimalusi. Küsisin ühes Facebooki grupis nõu, mida teha. Üks soovitustest oli pehme beebiraamat.

New pattern: Let's Twist Again! Uus muster!

Last December I designed the Let's Twist Again mitts pattern. I loved these tiny cables/twisted stitches so much, couldn't get them out of my head. The pattern looks great on socks too, isn't it?

Summer is on its way and maybe you don't knit socks anymore but I do, all year round! Let's Twist Again socks pattern was released last week. Both patterns are available in my Ravelry store. Want both? There is an offer available for you: buy one get another for half price.

I'm working on a new sock pattern at the moment. Should I release it in June or wait till September? Can't decide... Before that, I made a pair of mitts. The pattern is on the tech editors table. I might publish it in my blog. Would you like to knit along? We might start next week. 

Kes veel suvel sokke koob? Mina koon aastaringselt! Detsembris avaldatud vikeldatud sõrmitute muster sai nüüd ka sokkidele. Tore reljeefne muster, kas pole? Sokid on kootud alustades varbast, kannakiiluga ja tugevdatud kannaga. Veidi jämedamast lõngast, sport weight, vardad 2,75 mm.

My shawl pattern was published in webzine I Like Knitting April 2018 issue!
I used merino yarn for the design. It is soft and does not keep it's shape well. The edge on the webzine photo is not as crisp as it was after blocking.
Still it's great to see my work published!

I fell in love with this stitch pattern! I used it for socks at first. It still takes some time before I can show off the socks, be patient. Then I decided to use the same pattern using bulky yarn. Usually, I get an idea for a pattern name when working, but not this time. So I asked for advice on Facebook. One version I really liked was Snowclouds. Turned out there are several patterns in Ravelry called Snowcoulds. So I used an Estonian word, Lumepilve Hat and Scarf.

At first glance, it looks like a simple pattern, but really you have to have some skills. There are cables and yarn-overs and decreases and slipped stitches. I love the nice, rounded edge too. Look up my previous post, cabling without a cable needle, when working with this pattern. Speeds up the work and no need to fiddle around with a cable needle.

Ma olen sellesse mustrisse vist veidi armunud momendil! Kõigepealt kudusin sokipaari, siis otsustasin kasutada sama mustrit jämedast lõngast salli ja mütsi kudumiseks. Sokid pole küll veel blogisse jõudnud, aga küll nad tulevad. Tavaliselt tekib mul mustrit kududes idee, kuidas seda kutsuda, kuid seekord mitte. Küsisin Facebookis abi ja sain palju huvitavaid nime variante. Üks lemmikuid oli Snowclouds, kuid Ravelrys on mitmeid sellenimelisi mustreid. Niisiis olin kaval, ja kasutasin eestikeelset varianti.

Ühelt poolt on lihtsad soonikkoes sall ja müts, kuid mõned palmikukeerud ja õhksilmad teevad asja huvitavamaks. Kasutades ilma abivardata palmiku keeramise võtet läheb töö üsna kiirelt! Tegin ka lühikesed videod, kuidas palmikut keerata, vaata mu eelmist postitust!
