Vurr Socks in Progress. Sokid edenevad.

I have finished one sock except the heel. At first I thought I make short-row heels. When I started the heel I realised it will interrupt how the gradient colours flow on the sock. I opted for the Peasant Heel , it will be knitted on later.  I used Lori's Twisted Bind-Off. to finish the sock.
Now I have to examine the gradient skein and figure out how I get matching socks. I know it's ok when they do not match but I like mine to be as similar as possible.

*            *            *

Üks sokk on peaaegu valmis, ainult kand on jäänud teha.

Come Knit With Me - Vurr Socks. Koome koos - Vurr!

Would you like to knit a pair of socks with me? This subtle pattern works up quickly and is easily memorable. I called the pattern Vurr because it goes fast and the motif reminds me of a spinning top
which is "vurr" in Estonian. See how far I got last night watching knitting podcasts? I think it's a unisex pattern, suitable for everyone.

It is a slip-stitch  mosaic pattern. You work one round in one colour, next round in the other colour, slipping the stitches  marked with "V" in the chart. No need to carry both yarns at the same time. Easy-peasy! I knit my socks toe-up with a short-row heel. I make the soles in the same pattern. You can use the chart and knit socks in your preferred method. The chart has 8 stitch repeat, so you have to cast on 56, 64, 72, 80 sts. The stitch pattern looks the same worked toe up or cuff down.

Post your progress in Instagram or Facebook with hashtags #VurrSocks  #ArellaSeatonDesign @ArellaSeatonDesign I would love to see your socks!

Let's knit! Vurr-vurr! Quick-quick!

         *            *            *

Mustrimaalima foorumis on jaanuar-veebruar mosaiik-koes sokkide kudumise kuu!

Koo kaasa! Vurr-vurr!

Mamma Slippers. Mamma sussid.

First pattern release of the year is Mamma Slippers. I believe you have seen crocheted granny square slippers? I like the look of a well-made granny square slippers. Usually, they are colourful and fun. The only thing what bothers me about crocheted slippers, they are quite open, big gaps between stitches. I decided to design slippers with the same construction but using mosaic knit squares.
Six squares are needed for each slipper. I designed six different motifs each can be made in inverted colours also. I had so much fun with motifs, couldn't stop drawing new ones! Next time I make the slippers, I might use more colours too.
The slippers can be made to fit most feet. You need to swatch to get the size you need. The size of the slipper is determined by the size of the squares made. The size of the square depends on the gauge of your knitting. Sizing information is given in the pattern.
The squares are quick and fun to make. Sew the squares together for a charming pair of slippers to keep your toes warm and cosy.

Mamma sussid kasutavad sama konstruktiooni, kuid ruurdud on hoopis kootud mosaiiktehnikas.
Iga sussi jaoks läheb vaja kuut ruutu. Joonistasin kuus erinevat motiivi. Nii tore oli mängida mustritega! Järgmine kord ehk koon värvikirevad sussid, iga ruut ise värvi.
Sussi suurus sõltub ruudu suurusest. Suurusmõõtude tabel on mustris antud.

Holly Jolly Xmas eBook. Jõulusokid valmis ja Uus salakas Mustrimaailmas!

I hope you enjoyed making Christmas Stockings as much as I did creating the patterns! I really love seeing all the stockings popping up in Ravelry and Instagram.
Today I released the last pattern of four, Christmas Stocking Neli. I offer you discount of 30% off (coupon code: Rally30) until midnight, Tuesday, December 8 (UK/GMT time). Did you know, my newsletter subscribers get even better discount? Scroll down the page and subscribe now!
In order to get all four patterns, the best solution is to buy the eBook.
Do you wonder how I named the patterns? As I couldn't come up with an original name for each pattern I used just numbers from 1 to 4 in Estonian. Yks = 1, Kaks = 2, Kolm = 3, Neli = 4
Now you know a little Estonian!
I hope this festive season can brighten up this difficult year we've had.

Something Old, Something New. Midagi vana, midagi uut.

ABC Book

Can't believe it's nearly three months since the last post here! I wish there was a software to turn my thoughts to a blog post. Sometimes when I am out walking I write long posts in my head! Unfortunately, I never get around to write them down.

So, what I have been doing? I've released several patterns. I try to release one-two patterns per month. I don't have a schedule. When I get an idea, I go from there. Here are three recent patterns: Dark Honey blanket, All Webbed Up cowl and ABC Book. They are not new designs for me all these have submitted and approved for publishing in different magazines. The Dark Honey and All Webbed Up were supposed to be published in the YarnPeople magazine. I made the samples, posted to them for photography and wrote the pattern. Due to the Covid situation, they decided on hiatus and my patterns were never published. I decided to make new samples because I didn't have any good photos of them. I'm happy with the designs. I wasn't very sure about the spider cowl but people like it, it's quirky and different.

The ABC Book you've seen before, I posted about the book here. The rights are reverted to me and I am free to self-publish the pattern. I made a new sample in brighter colours, added a front and back cover. The binding has changed to make it more secure for those little fingers browsing the book. The mosaic pattern is charted and written out.

So, what to expect next? I am working on Christmas Stocking pattern, in a mosaic of course. There might be even more than one pattern. Other things I'm working on are mosaic slippers and a sweater. Mosaic slippers pattern was my very first pattern in Ravelry, released eight years ago. It's time to update it, add more sizes and bring up to my current standards. The sweater, I'm working on, going to be a basic long-sleeved sweater with an intricate mosaic on the body. I have made one sample already. I need to write down the pattern but I want to make another sample also. We'll see, how it works out!

All Webbed Up Cowl

Kolm uut mustrit on lisandunud. Kõik need mustrid olid heaks kiidetud avaldamiseks ajakirjades, kuid Covid'i tõttu jõudis trükivalgust näha ainult üks, ABC raamat, millest kirjutasin siin. Nüüd on mul õigus muster iseseisvalt avaldada. A nagu Aabits, B Banaan, D Diivan? Hmm, ei ole just huvitavad pildid.

Ämblikuga kaelus ja meekärjega tekike pidid ilmuma YarnPeople ajakirjas, kuid nad katkestasid avaldamise pandeemia tõttu. Ämbiku kaelust kudusime koos Mustrimaailma foorumis. Ma ise polnud kindel, kuidas selline disain meeldib, kuid see on hea vastuvõtu leidnud! Muuseas, uus salakudumine tuleb foorumis varsti, liitu ka!

Uutest tegemistest on käsil mosaiik susside mustri uuendamine. Jajah, see on see vana muster, mis oli mu esimene muster Ravelrys juba kaheksa aastat tagasi! Suurema tööna on käsil kampsuni muster, aga sellest räägime teine kord.

Linnutee Top Pattern.

When you get together with a yarny friend you visit a yarn store, right? I usually buy at least a skein to support a small business, what the yarn stores often are. These gradient yarn cakes are so pretty! My friend helped me to choose the colour. At first, I didn't have a clear idea of what I'm going to make. I didn't want a shawl but 600 meters of fingering weight yarn isn't enough for a shirt in my size. I chose a solid contrasting colour and cast on.

So I had this gorgeous gradient yarn cake and I wanted to make a sleeveless top. I didn't want to interrupt the flow of the gradient colours. The best way seemed to be knitting in rounds without short-row shaping. Wide-open ballet neckline looks nice for a summery shirt.

I'm obsessed with mosaic knitting. I designed a little bird motif for the #Loojangulinnud shawl and wanted to use it again. It’s exciting to knit with gradient yarn and see colours slowly emerging and changing.

Mosaic knitting is an easy way to create striking colourwork. Mosaic knitting is perfect for beginners who are attempting colourwork for the first time. Just knit and slip stitches, one colour at the time. No need to carry both yarns.

The shirt is worked from top down, starting with I-cord cast-on. The ribbing on armholes and at the bottom is finished with I-cord also. It makes a nice and firm finish which does not stretch out.

The introductory discount of 25% off (coupon code: Linnutee) until midnight, Thursday, September 3rd (UK time zone) in Ravelry

OR

The introductory discount of 50% off (coupon code: Milkyway) until Monday, August 31 (UK time zone) in Payhip.com/ArellaSeatonDesign

Esialgu mõtlesin salli teha, kuid salle on juba tehtud hulga. 600 meetrit 8/2 lõnga on minu suuruse särgi jaoks vähe.

Breakfast at Tiffany's Tableset. Mosaiik-koes lauamatt.

Placemat and coaster in mosaic knit pattern

I have been busy with mosaic knitting and charting new designs. Today I released the Breakfast at Tiffany's placemat and coaster set pattern. There is going to be another set with a similar mosaic pattern soon. I know my placemats will be used every day. The previous set, Come Dine with Me, which I made last year, has been in use since then and still looks good.

What else is on my needles? The most exciting new item is a summer top with mosaic yoke. It's my first ever garment pattern. I have made garments for myself and my daughter but never graded a pattern in several sizes. I've learnt so much in this process! The pattern is on my tech editor's table right now.

Another project I'm working on is a mosaic blanket (again, I know!). It's worked all in one piece, quite big and heavy. I manage to knit just some rows now and then. I hope it will be finished by August. Some swatches can be seen on the last photo below.

Sharing your projects made from my patterns on social media please tag me @arellaseatondesign
I would love to see your projects and don't want to miss any of them!

I am happy to offer you the introductory discount of 25% off (coupon code: Tiffany) until midnight, Tuesday, July 14 (UK time zone) at the Breakfast at Tiffany's pattern.
Thank you for purchasing my pattern!

The pattern will be added to my LoveCrafts store shortly.
I know some of you having problems with Ravelry. I will look for other options for opening a pattern store and I'll let you know when it's available.

If you like the pattern, please consider adding it to your favourites or leaving a comment on the pattern page. Thank you!

Minu varrastelt tuleb ikka ja jälle mosaiik tehnikas kudumeid. Täna näeb ilmavalgust uus lauakatete komplekt, Breakfast at Tiffany's. Muster on soodushinnaga -25% kuni 14. juulini, kood: Tiffany.

Ma pole ju varem kirjutanud rõivaesemete mustreid paljudes suurustes. Õpin kogu elu, mis muud!

Mosaiik-koes tekk on ka varrastel. See on kootud ühes tükis, suur ja raske. Igal õhtul üritan ikka mõne rea kududa, kui just ilm liiga palav pole. Proovilappi saab piiluda alumisel fotol.

Mitmed vahepealsed tegemised on jäänud blogimata, ehk leian jaksu kunagi.
Blogi vajaks ka kaasajastamist. Vähemalt päise vahetasin välja. Kas märkasid?

Through the Daisies. Jalgupidi karikakrais.

When I first published the Through the Daisies sock pattern, it had a different cuff pattern, inspired by flower petals. The sock pattern has been loved since, just the cuff wasn't everyones taste. Someone commented, it looked like screwdrivers! Several people changed the cuff. I decided to add another option, a new cuff chart. I used Drops Nord Pearl-grey and Drops Fabel Sunset yarn. I love how a self-striping sock yarn creates striking colourwork easily.
Currently, just the Through the Daisies Cuff Down has the new chart.
I will updated the toe-up version (Tiptoe Through the Daisies) later in the year.
I'm celebrating re-release with discounted price for you!
Enjoy!

Automatic re-release discount $1 off will be added at check-out,
valid until the end of May.

Mäletate veel seda sokimustrit? Muster nägi ilmavalgust kaks ja pool aastat tagasi. Siis oli teistsugune muster sokisäärel. Paljud muutsid sääremustrit oma maitsekohaseks. Egas see just ilusaim muster polnud, kuid tol hetkel oli see minu valik.
Through the Daisies (cuff down) täiendatud variant on saadaval soodushinnaga kuni maikuu lõpuni!

New Pattern, New Test Knitting. Uus muster, uus testkudumine.

The third pattern from the Sock Doodles series is released on Ravelry and going to be available on LoveCrafts shortly. For this Hearty Steps socks, I used less than 50 grams of self-striping sock yarn, Drops Fabel in Sunset colourway, and some solid leftover yarns. The heart pattern was created by slipping the stitches when working two rows in one colour, two rows in another colour. No need to carry both yarns same time! Easy-peasy!

Kolmas muster mosaiik sokimustrite peres on Hearty Steps. Seekord kasutasin isetriibutavat sokilõnga Drops Fabel koos ühevärviliste lõngajääkidega. Kaks rida on kootud ühe lõngaga, kaks teisega, samal ajal moodustub südamemuster kudumata üle tõstetud silmustest. Nii lihtne see ongi, pole mingit kahe lõngaga korraga mässamist!

Next up is a new test knitting, the intarsia blanket/afghan. I've shown it before as a MKAL project. This time I opened the test knitting in English. If you are interested in testing the pattern, please join in HERE.

The Elly’s afghan/blanket was inspired by abstract geometric art. I find geometric abstraction very eyecatching and as a knitter, very knittable. After examing several paintings, I started to experiment with shapes and figuring out the movement of the lines, before I came up with my design.

Also, the pattern can be used for making a wall hanging instead of a blanket. Why not use finer yarn and different fibre, like cotton or acrylic for smaller wall decoration?

Working in intarsia is fairly easy for an advanced beginner who is comfortable with the basic knit and purl stitches. You just have to be careful and organized working from 7-9 skeins simulatneously.

Sock Doodles.

I've been doodling with leftover sock yarns and combining mosaic patterns. It  is an easy and fun way to create colourful, one-of-a-kind socks. Use just two colours or four or even six, work more or less mosaic pattern repeats, all is up to you! This is the first pair from the upcoming Ebook, Sock Doodles. The Doodles pattern is available on Ravelry, an introductory discount of 30% off (coupon code: knitsafe) until midnight, Tuesday, March 31 (UK time). Or get the Sock Doodles Ebook, containing four mosaic knit sock patterns, for $7. One pattern is released, three more to come.
The price will go up by $1 with each new pattern added. Offers can not be combined with any other offer. VAT will be added if applicable.
However, there is an option to get this pattern for free! There is going to be the coupon code in my next newsletter for the free pattern. Join my newsletter mailing list now. The newsletter will go out on Saturday, 28 March at 12 am UK timezone.

Mu armastus mosaiik-koe vastu pole enam mingi uudis. Just täna lõpetasin neljanda sokipaari kudumise. Fotodel on esimene paar seeriast Sock Doodles ehk Soki-kritseldused.

My New Mosaic Knitting Patterns. Minu uued mosaiik kudu-mustrid.

I've been busy charting and knitting mosaic patterns and forgot to post my latest designs here. The tableset on the right turned out nicely, I'm happy. It's in everyday use and serves us well. The set is called Come Dine with Me after the popular TV show here in England. Never seen a handmade set on the show though ;)

Next up is a set of coasters with bugs on them (photo below). Bugs are funny little creatures. Some of them are very attractive, others not as much, I mean the real ones. They are all fun as patterns! Could you imagine your best friends face unwrapping a gift, a set of Bugs coasters?

The Putukad (Bugs) collection contains six bugs. The third pattern, the Fly, was just released, three more to come. By the way, my newletter subscribers got a free fly ;)
Get the Fly for a buck HERE.

Special price $1 (coupon code: FlyFly) until midnight, Wednesday, October 2 (UK time zone).

Mu käed on olnud tegevuses mosaiik mustrite skeemide koostamise ja kudumisega, blogimiseks pole aega jäänud.

Ülemisel pildil on lauamattide komplekt, mis on meil igapäevases kasutuses. Päris kena, mis? Nime sai see komplekt Inglismaal populaarse teleshow Come Dine with Me järgi.

Järgmiseks on avaldamisjärgus Putukate komplekt.

Mu uudiskirja tellijad said tasuta kärbse, teistele on momendil suur allahindlus saadaval SIIN.

Butterfly Washcloth. Liblikamuster.

The fifth and final pattern of the Blooming Clean Collection is here, the Butterfly Washcloth!
If you are not a big fan of washcloth you can still use the motif. Maybe make a baby blanket or a bib?

There is still time to get it with amazing introductory discount 50% off (coupon code: Liblikas) until midnight, Friday, August 9 (UK time zone) on Ravelry. Or get the eBook, all five patterns!
My patterns are available on LoveCrafts as well.

I had a lot of fun designing and knitting patterns. Maybe I should make a baby washcloth set next? It might happen in the future but for now, I'm done with washclothes. Next pattern will be a placemat and coaster set. So excited, can't wait to share it with you!

Viimane pesulapimuster kollektsioonist Blooming Clean on Liblikas. Sarnane muster on tasuta saadaval siin blogis, otsi Labels -> Mosaic. Muster on nüüd veidi muudetud, lisatud "regivärss" ja juhendid. Saadaval Ravelry's ja LoveCrafts lehel.

Mosaiik-kude on vallutanud mu meeled veel pikaks ajaks! Järgmiseks on tulekul väike linik/taldrikualus. Ja eelmise postituse pleed vajab ääristamist. Tegemist jätkub!

There is going to be five patterns in the collection, sold separately (on Ravelry and LoveCratfs) or as an Ebook (on Ravelry only). You are not a big fan of washcloth? Head kudumist!

Knitted Washcloth Collection. Kootud pesulapid.

I've been working on creating mosaic knitting charts since Spring. Once I started I can't stop anymore. I keep tweaking the charts and creating new ones, always more ideas coming up. I've released several charts for free in this blog and Instagram. They were basic colorwork charts, easy to use for mosaic knitting if you know how to work mosaic. Now I decided to create advanced charts with slip stitches included and create stitch by stitch written out pattern too. Some people are not good at following a chart, written is easier for them. The Flower Washcloth is first from the collection. The pattern is available on Ravelry and LoveCrafts. Collection will be available on Ravelry as an Ebook of a minimum of three patterns. Unfortunately, LoveCrafts doesn't support discounts, Ebooks or collections, that's why I decided to offer you lower price there.
A washcloth is a good starting point for learning about mosaic knitting. It's a small and quick to make project, perfect summer knitting and makes a great Christmas gift. Are you preparing for Xmas already?

*   *   *

Kevadel alanud töö mosaiik kudumise mustrite loomisega jätkub, vaibumise märke veel pole. Paar kuud tagasi jagasin mosaiik mustrite skeeme blogis ja Instagramis. Sellised skeemid on head, kui tead, kuidas mosaiiki kududa. Päris algaja tahab ehk detailsemaid skeeme, kus on täpselt näidatud, millised silmused kududa, millised tõsta. Lillemuster on esimene seeriast, kus isegi inglisekeelne "regivärss" on välja kirjutatud silmuste kaupa. Väike lapike on hea kasutada pesulapina või nõudepesuks. See on hea projekt mosaiigi harjutamiseks enne suuremate asjade kallale asumist. Suvel polegi ju aega suurteks kudumiteks, väike hea kotti pista. Miks mitte valmistada mõned pesulapid jõulukingitusteks?
Inglisekeelne muster on saadaval Ravelry ja LoveCrafts lehel.

Catch Two Cats Too Sock Pattern. Kassisokimuster!

Can you see my recent love is mosaic knitting? Mosaic knitting is fun and easy way of knitting with two colours to create a colourwork pattern which looks much more complicated than it is. The beauty of mosaic knitting is that it only uses one of the yarns at a time, while the other waits at the beginning of the round.
The kitty chart was such a fun to work with. I started out with a general image and kept adding little details. At first, I had a washcloth pattern in my mind but it kept evolving and wanted to become something else. At some point, I got the idea of intertwined cat tails. The result of days work, wondering and pondering is here, the sock pattern with one kitty sitting at the front of the leg, the other one at the back with their tails intertwined in the heart on the outside.
There are several nifty details in the pattern. Two options are given for the heel, short row heel or short row reinforced heel for hard-wearing socks. I know that socks with short row heel might be tight around ankles so I added a small gusset there. Another option is to work just your favourite heel. Socks are worked from the cuff down with rounded toe for an easy finish, no need for Kitchener Stitch.

Love the pattern?

Thank you for supporting my work by purchasing my patterns!

Tähelepanelik lugeja on kindlasti märganud mu armastust mosaiik mustrite loomise vastu.

Õpetuses on veelgi nutikaid nippe kasutatud. Sokikanna kudumiseks on antud kaks juhendit, lühikeste ridadega kand või lühikeste ridadega, tugevdatud kand. Lisatud on väike kannakiil, kuna sellise kannaga sokk jääb vahel pahkluust kitsaks. Loomulikult võib hoopis kududa oma lemmik-kanna!

Muster meeldib?

Suur tänu, et toetad mu tööd soetades mu mustreid!
Momendil on see muster saadaval ainult inglise keeles.

Come Join the Tulips KAL!

I've had a lot of lovely comments and likes on the Tulips in the Desert socks. Thank you all!

Tulips in the Desert - my new sock pattern. Uus sokimuster - Tulbid kõrbes.

How does one grow tulips in the desert? “With lots of love and care,” she answered.
The same applies to you, dear knitter! When you love the look of the socks you can make your own with lots of love and care.

It's hard to capture all these lovely bright colours when the weather is so dull in winter. They brightened up my long days of working on the pattern and knitting the socks. I got this gorgeous yellow speckled yarn at Yarningham last summer. I petted the skein and thought what it would like to become. Tiny red dots reminded me of a trip to the edge of Karakum desert a long time ago. It was springtime and tiny red tulips were blooming. I couldn't get the image out of my head, started drawing up tulip charts and knitting swatches. As you can see the initial idea was quite a bit different from the final.

Lovely yellow sock yarn is dyed by The Yarn Lab Uk, color Dancing Giraffes. Lana will dye more of this wonderful sunny yarn and kits will be available in her Etsy store. Or just contact her to place an order.
I can vision the socks made in other colors too. Maybe have a light blue or lilac as the main color? What colors you would like to use?
The pattern is available in my Ravelry store and there is an introductory discount 20% off (no coupon code required) until midnight, Monday, January 14 (UK time zone).

I would very much love to see your socks!

Uus sokimuster - Tulbid kõrbes. Millest selline idee?

Poeomanik Lana lubas panna kokku mõned komplektid sokikudumiseks.
Muster on saadaval my Ravelry poes ja kuni esmaspäeva hilisõhtuni on see 20% odavam.
Nii väga tahaks näha Sinu tulbisokke!
