In early spring an ad for Kaffe Fassett’s creative exhibition at the London Fashion and Textile Museum caught my eye. I had a great desire to see it but did not want to travel to London just for an exhibition regardless of the subject matter. Luckily, some friends from Estonia came to visit and expressed a desire to also visit London. This gave me the opportunity to see this wonderful exhibition. Unfortunately I was unable to capture the full majesty of the wonderful colours with my basic digital camera and I cannot fully describe my passion for these fantastic creations; however my enthusiasm for this subject continues unabated :)
Varakevadel jäi silma kuulutus Kaffe Fassett'i loomingu näitusest Londoni Moe- ja Tekstiili Muuseumis. Soov seda näha oli suur, kuid ainult näituse pärast Londonisse ju ka ei lähe. Kui aga sõbrad avaldasid soovi külla tulla ja ka Londonit näha, oli minu plaan paigas, lähen näitusele! Seda värvide pillerkaari ei suutnud minu 'seebikarp' tõetruult jäädvustada ega suuda mu nõder sulg kirjeldada. Emotisoone jätkub kauemaks :)
• Don't be afraid of
colour - why limit yourself to just one shade of red when you can use
seventeen? Layering colours will give your work resonance, so strive for a rich
texture, even if it's worked in fifty shades of gray.
• Let your yarns
inspire you. Make collections of yarn and display them in a basket where you
can see them. I often open a drawer of yarn to organize it, and next thing I
know I'm sitting down to knit.
• Ärge kartke värve - miks piirata ennast ainult ühe tooni punasega kui võiks kasutada seitsetteist? Värvide segunemine annab su tööle resonantsi, püüdle rikkaliku tekstuuri poole, isegi kui selleks kasutad viitkümment halli varjundit.
• Lase oma lõngal end inspireerida. Kogu lõngu ja hoia neid korvis, kus saad neid näha. Olen tihti avatud sahtli, et lõngu korrastada, ja järgmine asi, mida ma teen on, et ma istun ja koon.
Being given the opportunity to see all this beautiful work I was inevitably tempted to touch the textiles and study the reverse side. Fortunately for me there was a ‘feeling wall’ that enabled visitors to touch samples of the exhibits and better understand their construction.
Nähes kõike seda ilu tekkis paratamatult tahtmine käega katsuda ja näha töid ka pahemalt poolt. Õnneks on näitusel ka "tunnetamise" sein, mis võimaldab külastajatel katsuda ja paremini mõista kasutatud tekstiile ja nende struktuuri.
Up to now, for me Kaffe Fassett has been a wonderful knitter but I have now had the opportunity to see the wonderful embroidery and patchwork he has created.
Seni oli Kaffe minu jaoks olnud värvikas kuduja. Nüüd sain imetleda ka lapitöid ja rikkalikke tikandeid.
The exhibition is still open until 29th of June. Just a little walk over the Tower Bridge, not too far from there :)
Kuni 29. juunini on veel on võimalik näitust näha. Väike jalutuskäik üle Tower'i silla ja sealt pole enam pikk maa minna :)
