Drooping Elm Socks.

My younger sister loves to wear lacy woollen socks. For years and years her mother-in-law was knitting socks for all their family but now she is old and her hands do not hold knitting needles any more. My sister was darning her last pair of her favourite socks when we had a chat in Skype. She asked me, could I knit lace socks for her? Of course I can; I like to knit socks in airports and on airplanes and did the same on this last trip. I wrote about my struggles with the pattern earlier in this blog. I could not to memorize the stitch pattern, maybe because the leaves were not symmetrical. I omitted the ruffles and knitted just 1x1 ribbing as I’m not sure my sister wears the socks just in the house or wants to wear them with boots. I hope I can spare some time to knit more socks for her. 

The sock blockers are made by myself. Unfortunately I did not write my blog in English that time but there are quite a few instructions available in the internet.

Mu noorem õde armastab kanda valgeid villaseid pitsilisi sokke. Palju aastaid kudus ta ämm neid kogu perele, kuid nüüd on aastad teinud oma töö ning vardad ei püsi enam peos. Kord vestlesime õega Skypes, tema nõelus oma viimast paari sokke ning küsis, kas saaksin talle kududa uued pitsilised sokid? Muidugi ma teen! Mulle meeldib lennureisidel just sokke kududa, nii saigi see paar varrastele loodud. Probleemist selle mustriga kirjutasin  juba  varem. Kudumisel ei tahtnud muster mitte meelde jääda, ehk sellepärast, et pole päris sümmeetriline. Muster sarnaneb pajulehekirjadele, kuid pole täpselt sama. Originaalis olevat satsilist äärt ka ei teinud, vaid asendasin 1x1 soonikuga. Nii saab sokki vajadusel ka saapa sees kanda, mitte ainult tuhvlites. Loodetavasti leian aega talle veel mõne paari kududa. Sokijukud on samuti ise tehtud.
