Althorp.
Althorp has been home to the Spencer family for nearly 500 years. This was the childhood home of Diana, Princess of Wales, and this is her final resting place. From the main entrance gate we walk up a young oak avenue, which was planted by her brother, Charles 9th Earl Spencer, to commemorate the life of Diana, Princess of Wales.
Althorp on olnud Spencerite perekonna koduks ligi 500 aastat.

Paying visitors are given access to a substantial part of this historical house and its beautiful parklands. I, as a crafts-person, caught sight of a number of fine cross-stitch works. In the chapel I noticed a nice cross stitched runner on the floor, and in the drawing room there was a large sofa covered with cross stitched tapestry. In the ‘Queen Mary's’ bedroom I noticed two chairs, which had a richly coloured flower pattern on a light blue background. An interesting fact is that the tapestry work on the chairs was designed and embroidered by the 7th Earl Spencer who was Chairman of the Royal School of Needlework. Unfortunately we weren’t allowed to take pictures anywhere in the house.
The summer house at the lake side is now dedicated to Diana
The wedding of Lady Diana Spencer and Charles, the Prince of Wales has been in my memories for a long time, especially when I often admired the wedding pictures from magazines sent from England. In Soviet times, England seemed so far away and unreachable but changes in history have a habit of making the unreachable reachable and have brought me to this place.
Diana kuninglik laulatus on mu mälestustes olnud juba sügavast nõukogude-ajast, mil sai korduvalt imetletud tookord nii kättesaamatuna tunduvalt Inglismaalt saadetud broźüüri uhkete pulmapiltidega. Ajaloo kummalised rajad...
