Vurr Socks in Progress. Sokid edenevad.

 

I have finished one sock except the heel. At first I thought I make short-row heels. When I started the heel I realised it will interrupt how the gradient colours flow on the sock. I opted for the Peasant Heel , it will be knitted on later.  I used Lori's Twisted Bind-Off. to finish the sock. 

Now I have to examine the gradient skein and figure out how I get matching socks. I know it's ok when they do not match but I like mine to be as similar as possible.

Üks sokk on peaaegu valmis, ainult kand on jäänud teha. Esialgne idee oli teha kand lühikeste ridadega. Siis aga tuli meelde, et värviüleminekuga lõnga puhul jääb sokile nähtav triip sinna, kus kand on sisse kootud, ja seda ma ei tahtnud. Kudusin tulevase kanna kohale abilõnga, mille hiljem välja harutan ja Peasant Heel kanna koon. Silmuste mahakudumisel kasutasin seda moodust Lori's Twisted Bind-Off..

Nüüd vaja uurida järelejäänud lõngatokki ja teha kindlaks, kust alustada teise sokiga, et see saaks samasugune. Olen teinud erisuguseid sokke ka, aga ühesugused meeldivad rohkem ;)

Would you like to knit a pair of socks with me? This subtle pattern works up quickly and is easily memorable. I called the pattern Vurr because it goes fast and the motif reminds me of a spinning top
which is "vurr" in Estonian. See how far I got last night watching knitting podcasts? I think it's a unisex pattern, suitable for everyone. 

It is a slip-stitch  mosaic pattern. You work one round in one colour, next round in the other colour, slipping the stitches  marked with "V" in the chart. No need to carry both yarns at the same time. Easy-peasy! I knit my socks toe-up with a short-row heel. I make the soles in the same pattern. You can use the chart and knit socks in your preferred method. The chart has 8 stitch repeat, so you have to cast on 56, 64, 72, 80 sts. The stitch pattern looks the same worked toe up or cuff down.

Mustrimaalima foorumis on jaanuar-veebruar mosaiik-koes sokkide kudumise kuu! Kududa võib nii foorumis etteantud mustri järgi, kui ka mõne muu mosaiikkoes mustri järgi. 

Oma sokkide jaoks joonistasin selle lihtsa skeemi. Üks rida ühevärviga, teine teisega, V-ga tähistatud silmused tõstan kudumata üle. Nii lihtne see ongi!

Motiiv näeb välja kui vurr, seega Vurri sokid!

Mamma Slippers. Mamma sussid.

First pattern release of the year is Mamma Slippers. I believe you have seen crocheted granny square slippers? I like the look of a well-made granny square slippers. Usually, they are colourful and fun. The only thing what bothers me about crocheted slippers, they are quite open, big gaps between stitches. I decided to design slippers with the same construction but using mosaic knit squares. 

Six squares are needed for each slipper. I designed six different motifs each can be made in inverted colours also. I had so much fun with motifs, couldn't stop drawing new ones! Next time I make the slippers, I might use more colours too.

The slippers can be made to fit most feet. You need to swatch to get the size you need. The size of the slipper is determined by the size of the squares made. The size of the square depends on the gauge of your knitting. Sizing information is given in the pattern. 

The squares are quick and fun to make. Sew the squares together for a charming pair of slippers to keep your toes warm and cosy.

Selle aasta esimene muster, Mamma sussid, on inspireeritud heegeldatud vanaema-ruudu sussidest. Mulle meeldivad nood värvikirevad heegeldatud sussid. Ainus asi, mis häirib, et heegeldus on tavaliselt küllalt hõre. Mamma sussid kasutavad sama konstruktiooni, kuid ruurdud on hoopis kootud mosaiiktehnikas.

Iga sussi jaoks läheb vaja kuut ruutu. Joonistasin kuus erinevat motiivi. Nii tore oli mängida mustritega! Järgmine kord ehk koon värvikirevad sussid, iga ruut ise värvi. 

Sussi suurus sõltub ruudu suurusest. Suurusmõõtude tabel on mustris antud. Koo proovilapp ja muuda vajadusel varda suurust, et saada õige suurusega sussid.

Ruudukeste kudumine läheb kiirelt. Järgmiseks jõuluks jõuab hulga paare kududa teiste tööde vahel! ;)

 

Looking back at 2020. Tagasivaade aastale 2020.

It's time to look back at 2020! Design-wise it was a good year! 22 new pattern releases + 2 older patterns updated. A year before, in 2019, I also released 24 patterns. The number is the same, but there were more large projects in 2020.

I do not plan ahead much, maybe a month or two. I have no idea what new year will bring! Sometimes ideas just pop into my head and get done quickly other projects might take years to complete. I would like to design more garments. It's a long process and not so easy, to begin with. Some shawls and blankets would be nice. So many ideas! One thing is sure, I'm still addicted to mosaic knitting.

Üks asi on kindel, aasta 2020 oli tegus! Avaldasin 22 uut mustrit, lisaks veel kaks vanemat mustrit ümber töötatud ja parendatud. 2020 oli numbriliselt sarnane aastale 2019, kui ma avaldasin samuti 24 mustrit, kuid paljud neist olid väikesed linikukesed või pajalapid. Möödunud aastal sai avaldatud neli teki mustrit, mille üle olen tõeliselt uhke!

Mis edasi? Mida toob aasta 2021? Ma ei tee pikaajalisi plaane ega oska öelda, mis tuleb. Tahaks avaldada mõne kampsun mustri, kuid see on minusuguse algaja jaoks pikaajaline protsess. Lisaks tahaks teha mõned sallid ja tekid. Üks asi on kindel, mosaiiktehnika jääb põhiliseks ka sel aastal.
