My dear readers might remember the cardigan I knitted last year. I had a bit more than three skeins of the yarn left over, not much really. At first I thought I should order a couple of skeins but finally I decided just try and see what I can get out of those three skeins. I started to knit from the top down, measuring the item and weighing the yarn as I progressed. I knitted some short rows to shape the bust area and went up in needle size on hips. I weighed the yarn after each pattern repeat so I could cast off when there was not enough yarn left to knit another pattern repeat. The initial idea was to knit i-cord for shoulder straps however after finishing the body I had 14 grams of the yarn left for them. It took a few attempts to find the right pattern for shoulder straps and I had to match the amount of the yarn and width of the pattern. I sewed the straps on so I could determine the right placing for them.
I am really happy with the result. Waiting for some hot holidays now.
My project is in Ravelry.
ReplyDeleteIlus! Nii hästi sobib selle kardigani alla!
ReplyDeleteSuurepärane komplekt! Väga hea idee
ReplyDeleteSuur tänu! Komplekti/twinset'i idee on mul ammu mõtteis mõlkunud.
