Tulips in Taffeta. Taft ja tulbid.

Surfing around on the Internet I often find some great craft ideas and I always think that one day I will try them out. Some years ago I saw the idea for beautiful crafted roses. I slowly gathered ideas and materials, bought a hot glue gun and collected twigs. This spring I was in the mood to sew some new curtains for my living room. I managed to buy the end of roll of this taffeta fabric from the shop which was a bit more than I needed for curtains. In fact the fabric turned out to be really useful, because I used it up until the very last scrap of the material. I sewed new covers for cushions and my long-standing dream came true, I made fabric flowers! I got the inspiration from roses, but developed the idea further and made a sort of tulips instead. My living room got a beautiful vernal look.
Following this are short instructions for sewing tulips.

Draw a three point zig-zag line onto fabric fold double and sew lines in contrasting thread.

Voldi kangas kahekorra, joonista kolmetipuline sik-sak ja õmble kontrastse niidiga.
For shaping petals sew darts between petals, turn the piece, sew darts in the middle of petals and connect the edges.
Õielehtede vormimiseks õmble sissevõtted lehtede vahele, pööra töö ümber ja õmble sissevõtted lehe keskele, ühenda ringiks.
For one flower use two sets on three-petal pieces inserting one on to the other.
Ühe tulbi õieks aseta kaks kolmetipulist osa üksteise sisse.
Insert a twig to flower, add a bit hot glue 3 cm lower point of twig, press flower to the twig. Be careful not to get burnt.
Torka oks läbi õie, pane kuuma liimi 3 cm oks tipust allapoole, suru õis oks külge. Ära näppe kõrveta!

Cover the bottom of the flower with a scrap of fabric.
Õie põhja alla liimi kangaribake.

Cut and sew leaves, shape with dart, glue on twig.
Lõika välja tublilehed, õmble sissevõtte volt kuju andmiseks, liimi varrele.

Internetis ringi kolades jääb ikka midagi toredat silma, mida tahaks järgi teha. Aastaid tagasiköitsid pilku need kaunid roosid. Tasapisi kogusin ideid ja materjale, ostsin kuumaliimi püstoli, korjasin oksi. Sel kevadel tuli tuju uued kardinad õmmelda.
