I have had the
yarns Rowan RYC Alpaca Soft and Sirdar Balmoral in my collection of yarns for
some time now and I have been toying with the idea of knitting a stranded
jacket out of them. Originally I had a different idea in my head but after
seeing this cardigan inVogue Knitting Holiday 2013 I decided to use the style.
As I do not actually have the magazine I did not follow the exact pattern.
I knitted the
cardigan from the top down using double Balmoral yarn and this turned out to be
really thick and warm. The RYC Alpaca
Soft is a boucle yarn and gives a different structure to the knit. I cast on
using 6mm needles and due to the bulkiness of the yarn I decided not to knit
with steeks. Purling with two strands of yarn was quite difficult as I could
not see the pattern but in a moment of ingenuity I decided to knit backwards.
This made it so much easier to see the pattern as I was knitting.
I shaped the
collar with short rows and lined the cardigan with a knit fabric to add support
to the snap fasteners; the covered buttons are just decorative.
Spring is here
and I am very happy to wear this cardigan instead of a jacket.
RavelryJakk on paks ja soe. Jämeda lõnga tõttu loobusin mõttest kududa steekidega. Pahempidi kirjamine on ka keerukas, sest mustrit on raske jälgida. Tagurpidi kudumisest kirjutasin siin. Krae kudusin kohe külge, kujundades lühendatud ridadega.
Kudumise osa sai juba vanal aastal tehtud. Nüüd lõpuks panin jakile voodri ja õlandid alla. Voodriks on kirju trikotaaź, sest tahtsin, et kudumi elastsus säiliks. Kinniseks trukid. Suured kudumiga kaetud nööbid on dekoratiivsed.
Mõnus ja soe jakk, hea kevadel kanda :)
