Ottobre Design 2/2014, pattern number 12.

I cut this dress out before my vacation in Estonia, however I did not get it sewn up and so it remained incomplete until recently. English  summers do not allow a lot of days when you can wear a summer dress.. Now, before my next holiday, I finally had a reason to finish it. Due to the situation of we three sisters finding ourselves in different countries. we decided to spend our holiday together in Tenerife and that surely demanded a new dress for me. Fortunately, there was half the job done already.
I chose a floral pattern which I thought was charming if a bit vintage. The flowers looked as if they were a water colour painting. I was so taken by the pattern I hadn't even thought about how difficult it would be to sew up such a thin and stretchy fabric. The fabric I chose from Abakhan seemed to have small holes in it so I chose a simple pattern so that they did not become a problem. The original plan was to make the dress with pockets like on the pattern but it proved to be really difficult with the stretchy fabric to do this so I omitted them. I added a lining of polyester to the skirt, which I cut with a diagonal bias. Lining made the skirt heavy which stretched the bodice slightly which I quite like. I will definitely sew this pattern again but with the original pockets included.

Inglismaa suves pole just palju päevi, millal seda kanda. Nüüd, enne uut puhkust, oli põhjust lõpuks kleit kokku õmmelda.  Elukäänakute tõttu elame me, kolm õde, erinevates riikides.

Crochet Raffia Basket. Korviheegeldamise katsetus.

This was an experiment to make a basket from raffia craft ribbon. It turned out that the ribbon would make a good beach bag but was not firm enough for a basket.
The width on the widest edge is 43cm (circumference is 86cm). The width at the bottom is 25cm.
I used 3 x 30 metres of craft ribbon plus 1 x 25 metres of silver raffia parcel tie which was a bit narrower than the other ribbon.
I guess to make a beach bag of a decent size then probably 2 to 3 more skeins of ribbon would be needed. For this task I used a 8mm crochet hook.

I lined the basket and use it now as a knitting basket.

Kusagilt netiavarustest jäi kummitama idee heegeldada kingipakipaelast korv.

Purple Waves Throw. Laineline pleed.

A mild British summer, a lot of rain and a few yellowing leaves lead to thoughts of autumn, and subsequently on to winter. I prefer to keep my house a bit cooler, keeping myself warm with a throw on my shoulders or legs. My old throw had lost its shape and was looking its age and a new one was much needed.  My dream became reality and at last I have managed to knit a new throw for myself.

The pattern is from the Estonian stitch dictionary Pitsilised Koekirjad. The needles used are number 5. The dark Red Angora yarn is Linate de Lux and the other yarn is multi-coloured which I bought years ago from EBay.  It was described as Italian mohair yarn and I really liked the colours. When the yarn arrived I was just a wee bit disappointed. I know I should not buy an unbranded yarn, but the colours are still loved. The yarn is relatively thin and has a very short and soft pile. The colourful yarn is knitted with the two ends together.
Reducing my inventory is in progress, however both yarns are still present. I'll see how the yarns behave with throw then decide what else I could knit with them.
At the moment I am very happy with the result.
Dimensions 102 x 190 cm.

Muster on pärit Pitsilistest koekirjadest. Vardad nr. 5. Tumepunane lõng on Linate Angora de Lux. Kirju lõng on kootud kaks otsa koos.
Käsil on varude vähendamine.

Mosaic Slippers 2. Mosaiik sussid vol 2.

Yes, I know it is summer and yes I’ve noticed that it’s very hot just in case anyone who knits was wondering. However promises should be kept and because I had some time in between projects I decided to my knit mosaic slippers again.
I renewed my pattern and wrote down additional notes in English whilst I was knitting them. I hope to complete my pattern soon.
The garter stich I use stretches a little after wearing so it is good to knit with natural woollen yarn.
This wool can be easily felted (by hand or in the washing machine) later if the slippers feel a bit loose.

I loved how they turned out so I might knit some more pairs; after all Christmas is just around the corner.

Ravelry.

Sussid said seekord pisut väiksemad, talla pikkus 22 cm. Kasutasin peenemat lõnga, kui esimeste susside puhul.  Ripskude venib kandes veidi, seetõttu on hea kududa naturaalsest villasest lõngast, saab hiljem kergelt viltida, kui suur tundub.
